Dr. Thung was born and raised in Walnut Creek, California. She graduated with Highest Honors from the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in Molecular and Cell Biology and minored in Music. She received her medical degree from UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Thung completed her ophthalmology residency training at the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by a fellowship in Glaucoma at the renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA.
Dr. Thung joined the group in 2025 after practicing as a comprehensive ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist for over 10 years, both in Houston and Northern California. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Board of Ophthalmology, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Texas Ophthalmological Association. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Thung enjoys spending time with her family (husband, who is also an ophthalmologist, and twins), playing the violin, traveling, and reading. She previously performed with the Texas Medical Center Orchestra and recently joined the Woodlands Symphony Orchestra.
